About Our Church

About IGCD

This church (our church) is determined to proclaim the kingdom of the Lord Jesus Christ and to fulfill its vision and mission as set out below. We pray that God will give us both the determination and the power to do what pleases Him. Our church is a Christian church, according to the whole of the Bible — Old and New Testaments — governed by a pastor and under the supervision of the Irish Church Mission. The purpose of our church on earth is to equip disciples who love God and people to follow the great commission of Christ in Matthew 28:18-19.

God’s Word — God’s People — God’s Mission

Our Calling

Our Mission

We open the Bible to connect people to Jesus, help them understand God’s truth, and grow toward spiritual maturity — so that they may serve the Church and the community, and share the Good News of Jesus with their friends in Ireland, their families in Iran, and beyond.

Our Foundation

What We Believe

Our church is a Christian church that stands on the whole of the Bible — the Old and New Testaments. These are the core truths we hold to, confess together, and proclaim.

There is only one true God, who exists eternally in three distinct but equal persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. God is unchanging in His holiness, justice, wisdom, and love. He is the almighty Creator, the Saviour of His people, and the righteous Judge of all. God sustains and governs all things, all of history, and all of creation according to His sovereign will and for His glory.

God has revealed Himself in the Scriptures, which consist solely of the Old and New Testaments. Every word was breathed out by God through human writers, so that the Bible, in its original form, is entirely God’s Word — without error and completely trustworthy. The Scriptures alone carry final authority and are wholly sufficient for all matters of faith and practice.

All people, created in the image of God, possess inherent and equal dignity and worth. Humanity’s highest purpose is to know, love, worship, and obey God. However, because of the fall of our first parents, every aspect of human nature has been corrupted. All are spiritually dead, guilty of sin, and opposed to God.

Therefore, every person stands under God’s just judgment and must be justified — through the forgiveness and reconciliation made possible by Christ — in order to truly know God and live in a way that pleases Him.

Jesus Christ is both fully God and fully man. He was born of a virgin, conceived by the Holy Spirit, and lived a perfect, sinless life in obedience to the Father. He taught with authority, and all His words are true. On the cross, He died in the place of sinners, bearing the punishment they deserved and redeeming them with His blood. He rose from the dead, and in His resurrection body ascended into heaven, where He is exalted as Lord over all. He intercedes before the Father on behalf of His people.

Salvation is found in Christ alone.

Salvation is entirely the result of God’s grace and can neither be earned nor deserved. It has been accomplished through the once-for-all substitutionary death, resurrection, and ascension of Jesus Christ, and is offered freely to all through the gospel. In love, God forgives those He calls, granting them repentance and faith.

All who trust in Christ are justified by grace alone, in Christ alone; His righteousness is credited to them so that they stand forgiven, accepted as God’s children, and heirs of eternal life.

The Holy Spirit, the third Person of the Trinity, was sent from heaven to glorify Christ and apply His saving work to God’s people. He convicts of sin, gives new spiritual life, and grants true understanding of Scripture, which He inspired and continues to speak through today.

He dwells within all believers, assuring them of salvation, and though Christians continue to struggle with sin, the Spirit steadily works to conform them to the likeness of Christ. He strengthens the Church and equips its members for worship, service, and mission.

The universal Church is the body of which Christ is the Head, and all who are saved belong to it. It becomes visible in local churches — gatherings of believers who commit themselves to one another for:

  • The worship of God
  • The faithful preaching of the Word
  • The administration of baptism and the Lord’s Supper
  • Pastoral care and loving discipline
  • Mutual encouragement and love
  • Calling all people to repentance and faith in the gospel of Christ
  • Equipping believers for works of mercy and justice in the world, reflecting God’s care over all creation

The unity of Christ’s body is displayed within and between churches through mutual love, care, and encouragement. Genuine fellowship among churches exists only where they remain faithful to the gospel.

Jesus Christ will return in glory. He will raise the dead and judge the world with perfect righteousness. The wicked will be condemned to eternal punishment, while the righteous will enter everlasting joy in fellowship with God in the promised new creation. God will renew all things and be glorified in everything forever.

Our Convictions

Our Core Values

These are the convictions that shape how we live, worship, and serve together as a community gathered around the Lord Jesus Christ.

All the affairs of the Church and our daily life are guided by the Scriptures. We rely on God’s Word as the ultimate standard, trusting that it provides the wisdom, truth, and direction we need to live faithfully and glorify Him in all we do.

In all our activities, programs, and daily life, we center our goals on Jesus Christ. Through every action and decision, we seek to honor and glorify His name, reflecting His love, character, and teaching in all that we undertake.

We encourage all believers to grow in faith, knowledge of God, and Christlikeness. This growth is not just personal but also communal, as we support one another in developing a deeper relationship with God and a stronger commitment to His purposes.

We value authentic relationships within the Church, supporting, encouraging, and loving one another. True fellowship nurtures spiritual growth, accountability, and unity, allowing the body of Christ to thrive in harmony and love.

We share the Good News of the Gospel with everyone and, through serving others, reflect God’s love in our community and the world. Our mission reaches friends and families in Ireland, Iran, and beyond, ensuring that the message of salvation touches all people.

We seek God’s guidance, strength, and wisdom through prayer in all we do. Prayer shapes our decisions, strengthens our hearts, and reminds us that apart from God, we can accomplish nothing of lasting value.
